Yes, it's very possible I forgot to post my January 2010 earnings. My offline businesses have been very busy as of late and I haven't had much time online for writing posts or any of the other work that earns money online.... So, for that reason we're hovering right around the same spot as we have been the last couple of months.
January wasn't particularly exciting, but it continued the 600+ trend netting 678.78 for the month. Some sites were up a bit, some sites were down a bit from December. Probably the biggest problem I'm facing right now is time. My offline work has been burning up 60-80 hours in a week and due to that and health issues I'm just too tired to keep working on promoting sites right now, and keeping up with content. It's very frustrating to me because I have a HUGE list of things I want/need to do to build this online business that I have started, but I have no time and am not making quite enough from it yet to seriously outsource.
I have made a bit of a decision on outsourcing though and am going to give a trial run of about three months to a particular company to outsource the potentially most beneficial part of my online work. (That part that I can expect the most return on investment.) I've also come up with some ways to try to still strategize what needs to be done and make plans even when you're swamped wall to wall with other work. I hope to be posting a write up on that as well. It's as much for my benefit as it is for yours because I get very frustrated with my lack of time (and energy when I do have the time.) This is one method that has helped me to stay somewhat sane and continue working towards my online goals through this recent flurry of activity.
So, I'm not happy with the performance in January, but given the circumstances it's probably not too bad. Currently February is looking to be a bit more of a drop off as well (I don't know if we'll see $500), but there's still have the month to go and things could change as I work my new outsourcing options. I've canceled most all of my subscriptions to things that require me to spend a couple hours or more doing something each month simply because I can't justify paying month after month if I can't follow through on the execution. Some of the outsourcing is to replace that work which, to be honest I haven't been able to get much done with since October.
As for writing posts - I'm still trying to keep up with that across my sites, although it has become somewhat sporadic. I'm looking at some options on some of the sites that may help pad out what I do with content from others.
I'm not one of those people that things you have to keep updating sites to be in the good search rankings, but new posts are important for a number of reasons - 1) going after new search keyphrases 2) reminding people that you still exist and potentially getting links back from them depending on the post. Now, google will crawl a site at the rate that it thinks the site (or page) changes, but I don't buy into the idea that you have to keep changing to be listed high in the search results. Some of the top pages that I've run across have been archived for years, it was just a great, useful page and it got a lot of links and references from others.
The bottom line though is I'm going to be outsourcing more after feeling somewhat in a paralysis for several months and we'll see what that may achieve.
